Glad Tidings

APRIL 2026 GLAD TIDINGS 9 The Keen Agers "O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works." Psalms 71:17 TRUSTING GOD I know you have bad days — we all do. Days when the weight feels too heavy, when prayers feel unanswered, and when hope seems far away. But remember this: your bad days are not bigger than your God. Scripture tells us in Psalm 34:18 that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Even when you feel alone, He is right there, holding you, guiding you, and working all things for your good. Every trial you face is not meant to break you, but to build you. God can take what the enemy meant for harm and turn it into a testimony of His faithfulness. So when the day feels dark, lift your eyes to the One who is the Light. Trust that His mercies are new every morning, and His grace is enough for you today, tomorrow, and always. No matter what you’re facing — the loss, the uncertainty, the fear — God’s promise still stands: “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). The road may be steep, the valley may be deep, but you are not walking it alone. The same God who parted the Red Sea, who shut the mouths of lions, who calmed the raging storm — is the same God who is with you right now. You may not see the way forward, but He already knows the path. You may feel too weak to keep going, but His strength is made perfect in your weakness. And when you can’t take another step, He will carry you. God doesn’t just get you through the storm — He transforms you in the storm. On the other side, you’ll look back and see that every tear, every prayer, every moment of trust was shaping you for something greater. So hold on. Keep believing. The God who brought you this far will not leave you here — He will take you all the way through. Greater Things are coming your way. u Evangelist Curtis Davidson Greater Things Ministries CURTIS DAVIDSON Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed. Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot. He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing. After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?” “Potatoes, eggs, and coffee,” she hastily replied. “Look closer,” he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face. “Father, what does this mean?” she asked. He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity– the boiling water. However, each one reacted differently. The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak. The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard. However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new. “Which are you,” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? “ Moral: In life, things happen around us, things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is what happens within us.
